A sudden blink into real space, Vypus the Pale emerges from the Webway. This isn't his first time on a real space raid, but it's his first time leading one. His grip on the Parasite Kiss was tight. Unlike in the Webway, in the real space there is an atmosphere and he felt the sudden breeze on his face. As his eyes adjusted to the natural solar light, his surroundings came into focus. It was a human planet, and also one that had seen lots of war.
The novice archon looks out on his new crew. What they lacked in experience they made up for with ambition. He had once been among them but now he was their leader, and he intended to project that confidence.
"Full acceleration" screamed Vypus, and both of the vehicles noticeably accelerated. The razor sharp blades of his Aeldari craft would eviscerate the humans he had emerged upon.
High caliber ammunition begins to penetrate the night shield and as they get closer, the small arms fire intensifies. While each round doesn't penetrate the shield in full, each shot manages to significantly punch through and damage the hull. After slicing through the initial Space Marine lines, the relentless firepower managed to bring down the Xenos boats.
Emerging from the wreckage, Vypus is able to kill a few of the Space Marines before he is finally slayed by the sheer volume of firepower. As the Space Marine force begins to inspect the wreckage of the Aeldari crash, they discover that the remains of the Archon had been dragged back to Commorragh.
The Exorcist chapter of the Space Marines had been on Alpha Sera 22 to investigate the simple allegations of conspiracy, but after examining the wreckage they now have the feeling the mysterious tides of the warp may have destined them to be here.
To take full advantage of the Black Heart benefits I'd have to get a first turn charge off after an advance. I still think that was a good idea, but charging the Ravager into the Marines to try to deny a shooting phase was a mistake. Even though the Ravager isn't bad in combat, three Dark Lances into a target of my choice is just way more of an efficient use of the points.
Rolling dice better also would have probably helped.
