And now there are Nazis?!





When I was a kid Nazis were just an analogy you would use to decimate your child over an argument at the diner table!

Playing against a both close combat focused army and shooting focused army simultaneously was obviously not the most strategic position the crusading Eldar have ever found themselves in, but you play the hand you're dealt. I skipped the threat counter for this game since it was kind of a one off. Call the Warhammer police. 

It might be new model syndrome or just my luck, but the Avatar continues to whiff. He couldn't even take down a sentinel?!

The real lesson from this game is to remember what my army does. I should have remembered that the Dark Reapers will wound a Chimera on 3's and that they do three wounds. Three wound space marines were probably the correct target. Precision wounds need to be allocated to the character ahead of time.

Autarch Kayvyn continues to impress me. He is surprisingly effective in close combat, and just doing a stratagem for free is very useful since the Eldar are constantly at a CP deficit.

I should have used the Dire Avengers in reserve, and used the battle focus tokens more.

The threat of deep strike is also a very powerful deterrent and I should probably finish up the Warp Spiders sooner rather than later. Being able to snipe out Andrew's backfield objective if he leaves it (which he always does when he plays guard) would really throw off his command range.

I was unable to sow descent among the Imperium commanders. If I were to play this Guiding Fate mission again I would try and hold out until I had some more units that would modify leadership or force out of turn battle shock tests (I'm looking at you Hemlock Wraithfighter/Death Jeste).

Autarch Kayvyn (aka Kevin) and his storm guardians really won the game. I'm going to give 2xp to Kayvyn and 1 to the storm guardians since it was a team effort. It's not official rules, so don't report me to the warhammer police.

(Side note: Kayvyn is an actual name that came up first on the random Eldar name generator website)

I should have the D-Cannon platform ready by the next crusade game, and I have some spare supply to add it to the list. I have a feeling the imperium isn't going to be changing tactics anytime soon.

Massacre

 

Massacre 




Down the vast hills in morning mist cold
Into the peaceful deep valley below.
Two thousand stallions foaming with hate
Carrying their masters towards their fate

Coming from each side prepared for attack
Covered in dust clouds now there is no turning back

Amidst the scattered limbs dead bodies finally comes to peace

None of these bitches are getting an MVP.

Spending 2RP on Burned Futures since the next phase of that fate is actually significantly harder.

It is a rare seer who does not perceive contingencies, keeping their grip upon diverging threads of possibility and expending the hopes and dreams they lead to buy time for the realisation of the one fate they truly desire.

Message Failed to Send

Message Failed to Send (still untitled Aldari Crusade)

Welp... the messenger didn't manage to warn my forces about an impending crisis. The Autarch messenger was able to withstand a lot of damage and earned himself MVP points. 

Farseer Skyrunner being able to throw around -1 to wound is very powerful, but the Windriders just make him harder to hide and don't really have the guns to be scary at the moment. I'm swapping them for some Shroud Runners which for some reason are the same amount of points (I'm not sure why you'd ever take Windriders with scatter lasers), and tanks in cover was surprisingly resilient. 

I'm going to keep the scar on the Guardian Defenders because the prospect of them gaining one more scar and turning in to Wraithguard is just too cool.

I also haven't been keeping track of the kill tally for each unit, but maybe I should.
